I liked this quote:
[…] Here’s the reality: It’s an integrity thing. What kind of person are you? It’s really about who you are and what kind of morals you have. Our industry itself, from a white hat standpoint, is built on integrity. You want the best for your fellow humans. For a lot of people on the attacker side, it’s really all about the money. And how much money you can make in the shortest amount of time.
For me the emotional component, how I feel, is about integrity. I don’t want to be a criminal. I want to be useful to my community.
I’ve also looked at the issue as a risk/reward calculation. I’d need to be making approximately $10m+ to be able to afford both a massive improvement in lifestyle for my family and to buy some form of anonymity. All with a minimal chance of being caught over a 30 year period. I can’t see that happening.
I guess I’m just not cut out to be a digital criminal mastermind.
